Lacy Gilmour- Senior Litigator

Lacy's legal career began with a solid educational foundation. After graduating from high school a year early, she went on to earn an Associate's degree from Butler County Community College. This was followed by a Bachelor of Science in Psychology; where she double minored in Spanish and Sociology, with an emphasis in Criminal Justice at Friends University. Her academic journey culminated at the University of Kansas, where she obtained her Juris Doctor, and was honored with an Emily Taylor Outstanding Nontraditional student award. She graduated with honors all throughout her academic journey.

In 2006, Lacy successfully passed the Kansas Bar exam, earning her license to practice law. Her passion for the legal field, rooted in personal family experiences, has been a driving force since her youth, inspiring her to make a meaningful impact in this arena. She has dedicated nearly two decades of her life to making a difference for people who need it most.

As a seasoned litigator, Lacy is known for being a relentless advocate in the arenas of family and criminal law; and for holding administrative bodies accountable for following their own policies and procedures. She vigorously represents her clients in and out of the courtroom, while maintaining a deep understanding of their personal challenges, and respecting their financial investments. Her first-hand observations of criminal and family courts provide her with unique insights, allowing her to empathize with her clients' situations effectively, but to also provide realistic guidance and strategies for meaningful action.

Her vast experience includes time spent both as a Prosecutor and as a Defense Attorney. She fully embraced both roles, with an understanding of the complex considerations on each side. She spent almost a decade as a public defender, representing indigent clients on charges from driving while suspended to homicide.

Lacy's approach combines professional expertise, personal experience and understating, which enable her to navigate even the most complex legal processes with both skill and compassion. She is dedicated to leveraging her experience and knowledge to achieve the best possible outcome for her clients, regardless of their personal challenges or limitations.

Outside of her professional life, Lacy cherishes her family. She especially enjoys time spent with her spouse, 3 children and grandson. She is excited to meet the grandchild on the way. She also enjoys unwinding with a good book or two, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and personal growth. She has learned a considerable amount about Artificial Intelligence (AI); and is excited to explore and implement measures to stretch client funds and maximize their return.

Lacy is a part of the Wichita and Kansas Bar Associations. She is also on the board of the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness (PAIMI), which is dedicated to protecting and advancing individuals with mental illness in every way, thus allowing them to remain independent. She dedicated many years to being a presenter at the Kansas Law Enforcment Training Center where she taught officers how to successfully investigate, write reports, and secure crime scenes during their mock trial exercises. You can also find Lacy being featured in the Wichita Business Journals' "Women in Law Who Lead" series in 2023. Lacy is also a part of PSI CHI National honor Society and a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
